For the self-celebrating narcissism of the ego when I write, I withdraw. I dream of a language that is capable of expressing the self without the intrusiveness of the self. I have a long-lasting love affair with the English language and literature as I taught it as a second language for over three decades to graduate classes. Naturally, I write in an idiom, which is both native and English at the same time. The native language interference is bound to intrude when I write in English. As a result, a native speaker of English tends to discover the blunders I might be committing and the blunders are blunders – favourite or otherwise. How many Englishes are there in our Globe? To name a few: African English, Indian English, British English, the King’s English, Oxford English, Australian English, Canadian English so on and so forth. Mine is Indian English.
