Ever since I could talk, I told stories, enthralling my mother when I came home from school in kindergarten and holding my class captive where the teacher would call in the principal to hear another one of my stories. I took every English class in high school and attended college where I met other serious writers for the first time. I love reading the classics, like Steinbeck, London, Tolstoy, and Austen, most especially British, Russian, and Californian authors. The greatest influence on me was when I met Ray Bradbury at the Santa Barbara Writer's Conference and he gave his talk on, "So, You Want To Be A Writer?" He said to write one page a day. By the end of the year, you will have written a book. I followed that religiously and have written many books. It's about knowing you have something to say, but don't know exactly how, so you keep trying and trying. Along the way, the journey becomes your life as a writer, crafting your work, expressing what is within you, and giving it your best.     

1984 inclusion in the American Collegiate Poets Fall Concours; Guest Poet at the 13th Annual San Luis Obispo Poetry Festival; 1996 publication in the National Library of Poetry's "Across the Universe;" 2004 publication of "A Natural History of the Nipomo Mesa Region;" and publishing my first novel, "Fathers of Edenville," in 2020.

My first novel, Fathers of Edenville, launched on April 16th, 2020. It is the first in a series of four books I am calling, "The Pine Valley Series." Book Two, Mothers of Pine Way, launched on May 13, 2021. It was followed by Book Three, A Place Called The Way, on July 28, 2022. It received a Literary Titan Silver Book Award. Book Four, Dreamer On The Mountain, completes the series on August 10, 2023.
