At the age of 20 I started writing weird fiction. Exploiting the more esoteric nuances of the English language, and a warped imagination, I began writing novels that were devoted to the craft, giving little regard to time involved, marketing, or popular appeal. My first book, MAALSTROM, was completed in two months. Intricately-plotted, sublime, even lyrical, it is truly strange, and if you think the characters are anything like you and me, then you might want to read it again, for depth. Using a sword-and-sorcery Conan-style worm's eye view, Maalstrom explores the biological interdependence of several humanoid species on an alien world, all of whom are descendants of an original colony of humans whose genes were crossed with a species of hornet native to the planet. Writer's Digest called it "a beautifully written fantasy saga." I just released a 2nd Edition (same ISBN) illustrated and expanded to 322 pages, so only purchase the new 2016 edition, ignore previously printed so-called "used" copies of Maalstrom with the old cover. A new comment from a recent reader: "Glenn Lazar Roberts is one of the finest writers of unconventional prose in contemporary fiction. THE SELK KING, sequel to Maalstrom, climbs new heights of the bizarre, from a character who speaks through dance to a pillar of carven ebony glass within the enormous glass pyramid called HeavenHell, from socratic dialogues among bloody murderers to soaring bare-breasted angels obsessed with stealing corpses. This novel, which took 4 years to complete, is Just Plain Weird, and is reminiscent of Robert E. Howard, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Mervyn Peake and John Fowles. Writer's Digest termed it "compelling" and "a must read for every science-fiction fan." Former high-school dropout, ex-cook, one-time security guard, fiction publisher submissions reviewer, language translator, erstwhile college history instructor and tutor, stock speculator, long-distance swimmer, itinerant glupy Russian from "pribaltic," and professional student of many and sundry topics from calculus to Hebrew, my life has been devoted to strange ambitions fed with no sane limit, including writing novels in Arabic, which, unfortunately, has yet to progress beyond a single short story. Thank God I finally married and had three kids; no telling what ditch I would be lying in now, instead of ending up, as I have, as an attorney, writer, editor, and translator. More books follow. My third novel, FRENZY, is the first and only novel to be based on Houston's underground pedestrian tunnel system (yes, most tunnels are underground), a horror/sci-fi tale that builds on the ideas of the physicist Stephen Wolfram. Written in exactly 20 days, it can be ordered from any bookstore, coast-to-coast, as can all of my books. "A plot worthy of the movies," one reviewer said. Not yet published is a horror/sci-fi novel about a young man who must keep the exact same change in every pocket, or some very bad things will happen. I'm not ready to release the title yet. Next is my grand epic ADVENTURES OF THE RADIATED LESBIAN NUN, in three novels. First book: JUDGE CRATER TAKES A POWDER (Equus Publishing, Dark Lotus imprint), in which Maggie, the RLN is born. Second book: CROSS-DRESSERS FROM PLUTO, (Equus Publishing, Dark Lotus imprint) is now published. Truly Just Plain Weird. The third novel in the RLN Series is also finished and on the way, title The Warriors.  Most recent is Quantum Marlowe, a sci-fi detective novel about a private detective who is abducted by 2 mad scientists who lop off his pinky finger and install a red button that enables him to walk through walls. Threatening his ex-wife, they force him to undertake several dangerous errands, with momentous consequences since when he walks through walls, he in fact is moving between alternate universes.  I've written some books on Islam and International Law, actually college dissertations that I packaged and published, and I may expand them into full-size books if I can find the time. But the censorship of America's media on Islamic topics is a drag. And, frankly, writing weird fiction is a lot more fun. Oh, I also recently wrote a cute anti-discrimination children's book, THE HANDWALKERS, appropriate for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades.
