Martha attended Grand Rapids Community College and Michigan State University, graduating with a bachelor of art in elementary education. She taught 3rd grade, preschool and has held several tutoring positions. Martha typed deposition transcripts from her home for over 20 years, worked in a law office and is currently retired. The author lives with her husband in Michigan. She is the mother of three grown daughters and seven adorable grandchildren.  

Martha received a second-place prize and an honorable mention for her poetry while attending Grand Rapids Community College. She was the poetry editor for one year and had several of her poems featured in Display, A Magazine of the Arts, put out by the students of Grand Rapids Community College. One of her poems was published in The Grand Rapids Press. She is the graduate of three Institute of Children’s Literature courses: Writing for Children and Teenagers, Creating and Selling Short Stories and Articles, and Writing Children’s Books. She has written many articles, short stories and poetry for children as a result of these courses. Martha has written numerous book reviews for The Midwest Book Review. She is a past member of Peninsula Writers, a Michigan writers’ association. Martha’s first book, Return to Pentwater, a Christian Romance, was released in April 2005 (2nd edition released 2012). Her second novel, The Forbidden Gold of Mackinac, a young adult mystery, was released in February 2006 (2nd edition released 2012). Her third novel, The Charlevoix Greats, will be released in late 2012.
