I am a 54 year old mother of 4 children, Josetta, Shanika, Trevel, and Briana and a grandmother of 6, Jakai, Jaidyn, James, Jamaree, Jordyn, and Journee.  I grew up with my mother, Christine (RIP), my grandmother, Hattie (RIP), and my 3 sisters, Janice (RIP), Barbara (RIP), and Hope on 43rd and Lake Park.  I now reside in the city of Chicago on the southeast side. I started writing in the early 90's.  My inspiration to write came from my mother, Christine (RIP 8/31/04).  When I stopped writing poetry or working on one of my many unfinished books, my mother told me that I was making a big mistake.  I started a catering business, D's Kitchen.  For the next few years, she kept telling me that my talent was going to waste.  When my mother fell sick in 2004, I gathered up my unfinished books and started with the first one, Sweets.  It's now published and is available.  I want to thank my mother for giving me the inspiration to finish what I started.  My other books, Sweeter Than Sweets  and The Letter To Julius Waters are now available.

My first published book, SWEETS was published by Publish America in December 2005.
