James A. Michener's writings are the greatest literary influence on my writing. His sense of adventure and his style are the lighthouse that guides me when all else fails. Of course, there are many contemporary writers whose skills at  tales I admire.  To me, writing is fun. My stories somehow magically assemble in my mind as I write. I perform detailed research before I begin to write. But, I never use detailed plots or plans. I frequently assume the role of the character who is presently making his way through my keyboard. I also draw on my love of the American way of life to flesh out my tales. Although educated as an engineer, I have always wanted to write professionally, I graduated from the University of Missouri, home of one of the premier Journalism Colleges in the country. I guess it was osmosis, but after I graduated as an engineer, I began to feel the urge to write. I have worked as a radio newscaster, technical writer and a newspaper correspondent on the road to being a novelist.  

I have a historical novel,"The Planters" published by Archebooks. It chronicles the misery foisted on English immigrants to early Jamestown in the 1600s. It sets the stage for the American Revolution.

A second book, "To Any Extreme," is now published by VBW. It is the saga of a woman who doggedly pursues her husband's murderer. Justice is served as the plot twists and turns about the heroine. It is yet to be published.

A third novel, a sequel to "The Planters" is being developed.
