I was raised in Florida by parents of English immigrants and colonial American backgrounds. After graduation from Florida State University, I taught 7th grade social studies for 18 years. Having written many projects for use in the classroom (due to lack of books), writing became second nature to me. For many years after teaching I also ran the family business, Lucky's Flea Market and Storage, a great one-on-one people business. With early retirement, I worked on my interests of genealogy and writing. I was self-taught how to develop and run my own web sites. From writing many family stories for the web sites I started submitting my non-fiction stories to national magazines. There was not a better feeling than seeing your own words in print and the satisfaction that you enlighten other individuals.

Social Studies Teacher of the Year 1986 in Florida, Listed in "Whose Who Among American Teachers" - First Edition - 1990, Contributed research to book "John Bixler, Pioneer, Immigrant, Farmer" by Agnes Bixler Kurtz in 2000, Story of an American Hero, Samuel Kershaw in book "In Search of Our Ancestors - 101 Inspiring Stories", editor Megan Smolenyak in 2000, published articles in "Ancestry Magazine", "Family Chronicle Magazine", "Internet Genealogy Magazine", "Florida Monthly Magazine", South Florida History Magazine and "Jupiter Magazine".
My first published book in paperback became available in December 2006. It is published through I-Proclaim (PA), nonfiction and titled, LEGENDS - FAMILY STORIES AND MYTHS. It is 174 pages in length with many illustrations.
In 2007 the book, "The Invincible Alice" about Alice L. Walters Wallace of Florida and her achievements during the 1930s - 1990s was published.
In 2008, the book titled "O. B. Padgett - A Florida Son" was published. It covers the life of one of Florida's youngest Chief of Police during the 1920s when he had to deal with bootleggers and notorious outlaws.
On April 28, 2010, my "Discovering Family History" magazine article of Sept. 2009 placed 3rd in the nation as an outstanding genealogical article. The article was titled: "Evoking Family Stories."
