Mr. Stewart is the recipient of the J. Franklin Jameson Archival Advocacy Award given by the Society of American Archivists for his work promoting motion picture film preservation and research at the National Archives. His ten books have been well received and honored with over a dozen literary awards. Mr. Stewart was born and raised in southern California and graduated from San Diego State University. He joined the Air Force where he spent the next 21 years involved in television production and multimedia management. In subsequent years, Mr. Stewart opened his own video production company in California; worked as a video producer-director for a university in Arizona; managed a cable channel in Michigan, supervised a media operation in New Jersey, and oversaw a multimedia facility in Florida. He is a member of the American Aviation Historical Society, the Association of Moving Image Archivists, and the Military Writers Society of America, among others. Along with his wife and two cats, Mr. Stewart lives semi-quietly along the Emerald Coast.
