During his career in the Police, Neil saw a gap in the recording of some of the details of Scottish History. After retiral and much research in Scotland and in Europe, he came to write his first novel, 'Campbell's Reivers', which attempts to address the gap while painting over history with a layer of romantic fiction - a brave and enlightening tale. Documents from Den Haag, Scouts in Holland, memories of tea and scones deep in the hills of Perthshire, all served as inspiration.
