Background Information

I have over 25 years experience in competitive sport and have spent the last 15 studying performance enhancement from a very different perspective to the conventional approach. After developing better movement through the Alexander Technique, I began to enjoy sport again after too many years of injury and erratic performances. I gave up a career in telecommunications to complete a three-year full-time training to teach The Alexander Technique. I began writing about how the technique could be applied to sports training around 12 years ago. My initial motivation was that too many books on sports, fitness and exercise kept repeating the same old mantra of 'if a little exercise is good, more must be better'. Yet from my experience and from working with others I believe that exercise more often than not actually restricts people's performance, creativity and can even lead to injury. My first book, 'The Performance Paradox' looked into how conventional exercise could stunt development and performance. I self published this in 1999 after spending 2 years on it. It's okay I suppose but it was a little 'preachy' and full of jargon. My second book 'Zone Mind, Zone Body' is, in my view, much better and easier to follow. It's aimed at sports people who want to try something different to enhance their performance. My latest book is specifically for golfers. It's called Golf Sense and I've been very pleased with the reviews and feedback praising its unique approach.
