April Blair was born and raised in Memphis, TN. Always daydreaming about big goals, she began to call herself SKY because she felt it represented her. She considered herself big, beautiful and her emotions were like the weather, can change in an instant. After becoming a member of Memphis' largest lesbian family/house, Sky was changed to Skyy Blu to use as her family name and has stuck.

My major influences are Micheal Baisden, E Lynn Harris and Laurinda Brown. Micheal Baisden's book "Gods Gift to Women." Was the first book that I ever read that I just could not put down. E Lynn is a major inspiration for all GLBT authors and so is Laurinda Brown
