Conversations With Asenath began as a historical fiction about the life of Joseph, a boy who went from the pit and rose to the palace courts.  It sounded like an enduring story of justice and of divine providence, until I was challenged to look deeper into the ‘boy does good’ theory.  I admit, I almost had regrets about choosing the topic.  All of a sudden, I was faced with another side to Joseph’s story where the Israelites went from sojourners to dwellers and surrendered their freedom for security; moreover, the mere thought of Joseph’s participation in the establishment of Egyptian slavery to Pharaoh boggled my mind.  My neat world all of a sudden crumbled as I read the story in light of empire, assimilation, and slavery, while keeping in mind the overarching promise of God’s covenant.  In my preface, I communicated that my hope for this book is to challenge and inspire people to live a circumspect life as they take up leadership roles around the world. Recently, I discovered that this book means much more. Did I know it at the time? No. I discovered the ramifications of this book a year and a half later! Conversations With Asenath gives insight to today’s problems; for it is out of the past the present is lived and the future is formed.  The very people in Joseph’s time are still around trying to keep covenant.  It is naive to think the problem with the Middle East is simply over oil. To truly comprehend the complexities of the Middle East, one must understand the significance of covenant. This insight will shed a new light on 9/11 and global events.

I've been in school most of my life getting an undergraduate degree at Tyndale University then a graduate degree at Wycliffe College/University of Toronto. I'm also a Long Ridge Writer. It is my hope to get another degree and continue to write, and one day, perhaps I'll teach.
