I'm a pastor in a small church and my writing centers primarily around Christian issues - some fiction - some non-fiction. I love to read. I find an author I like and read what they have written. I have read most everything written by C.S. Lewis, G.K. Chesterton, I. Azimov, Larry Niven, J.R.R. Tolkien, John Steinbeck and numerous others. Although my skill does not rival theirs, I imagine they have each influenced my writing. At an earlier time of my life, I was a high school biology & chemistry teacher. And 'yes' I taught evolution. I have since learned that most of that 'science' is imaginary and does not stand up to close examination. While I am certain that God used many mechanisms to build the world we have, I am equally certain evolution, as it is currently defined, was not one of them. Such educational and experiential background must also influence my writing. I believe we have allowed science to provide answers to questions it is unqualified to address. I also believe the kinds of thinking that have come from the scientific community have, for many, severly abbreviated their ability to experience the fullness of life - hence many struggle along knowing, somewhere in the back of their minds, there really is more to life, but they aren't part of it. For example, the Protestant community has, for the most part, eliminated mysticism from their belief structure. Sadly, those people that are affected by that lack are missing out on a major chunk of the religious experience. Such issues also influence my writing. I have published a number of short stories and articles, but nothing of book length. I do, however, have several books under construction.
