🧙🏻‍♂️ απάθεια: Vita pergit. Accipere res ut sunt. 🦢

Background Information

🐁                                                    HIDDEN MESSAGES EVERYWHERE
"The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation.💧 ⬅this is what I've written about.
Henry David Thoreau         Suivez le sentier des papillons.
                                                                                              .
I've wished upon the evenin' breeze
that murmured through the cottonwood trees.
I've cried out to the big full moon
an' begged that he might grant a boon.
I hoped an' prayed 'til my knees got sore,
dreamt an' dreamt 'til I could dream no more.
But none o' my dreams e'er come true
an' there was nothin' e'er that I could do
but learn to be happy wi' what I have,
cover my tears with a cynical laugh.
And so it is. That's wha' I do.
And so it happens that I'm wi' you.

There are many things that I desperately want.
There are many things that I already have.
How happy I am, at any given moment,
depends on which I'm focusing on.

Sometimes my desperation is not so quiet.
Sometimes my desire is too strong.
The heart wants what it wants, but I know what I have.
I know I'd rather be with her.

My dreams are like pearls.
I gave up all for one of great value.
The one I could not live without.
The one I almost lost.
All others have turned to sour grapes.
Still, I do not cast them before swine.

I am not fooled by ancient myths.
I am not drawn to worldly delights.
Before I came, while I'm here, after I've gone:
The world is full of good things.
The world is full of bad things.
My presence makes little difference.
I accept my insignificance.
I'll spend the day with the one I love
and care little for anything else.

Toujours vouloir. Jamais espérant. 🦋⬅ (Desire ➡ Desperation)
Accomplishments

This website contains a collection of songs and poems I've written over the past 50 years. I haven't had any recognition to speak of but there are many that I feel rather proud of. Some of the things I write are autobiographical. Others are pure fiction. Many are a mixture of the two. I write a lot about problems that real people face in the real world: about desire, despair, resignation, and isolation. Even when I write fiction I often write in the first person to make my stories sound more real. Much of what I write reveals my philosophies of life. (My primary influences have been Stoicism, Epicureanism, Buddhism, Freud, Schopenhauer, and Thoreau.) You might come to this place if you wish to know me. Much is revealed to those who are truly interested and able to understand.◀ (🎭 No hay máscara. Solamente un enigma.❓)

"Writing a poem you can't read to anyone is exactly like making gestures in the dark." - Ovid
(Ovid was a Roman poet who spent much of his life in exile after offending Augustus Caesar.) 🌎 MUNDUS SINE CAESARIBUS 👑

🌐The best way to approach my AuthorsDen page:
First, read this front page. Second, read my "Who I Am" article.
They provide an introduction. (You may wish to read my blog post as well.🧩)
Be sure to follow the links, and read the commentary below my "Who I Am" article.
Then, walk your way through my four "Things I've Written" articles.
They provide links to everything I have posted here, in chronological order.
(Some of my poems, instead of having their own pages, are included in the
review sections of other poems.)
Be sure to read the commentary below each of my "Things I've Written" articles.
It contains a lot of biographical information.
There are also alphabetical lists of my works available.
See my "Gestures In The Dark" link below. ⬇

💠The best way to navigate my poetry pages:
1. Notice the photo at the top.
2. Read the poem itself.
3. Watch the video at the bottom.
4. Read my commentary in the review section.
5. Follow the links to find additional information!
(Many of my poems are annotated: filled with links that clarify each line
and expand upon the story told by the poem. ➡➡ If you follow these links
from poem to poem, you may find yourself wandering through a maze that
reveals a fuller story which is quite complex and partially autobiographical.
You could be lost inside this forest for days, searching for clues: stumbling
into "secret places", discovering hidden messages.❔)

My AuthorsDen website appears on the surface to be
just another collection of poems and short stories,
but those few who take the time to look 👁‍🗨
may discover it's really a NON-LINEAR BOOK!

"It's no good trying to get rid of your own aloneness. You've got to stick to it all your life.
Only at times, at times, the gap will be filled in. At times! But you have to wait for the times.
Accept your own aloneness and stick to it, all your life. And then accept the times when
the gap is filled in, when they come. But they've got to come. You can't force them."
DH Lawrence (Lady Chatterley's Lover) 📘

I have posted some strange stuff here, but I believe I've said all I have to say. I'm done raging against the dying of the light.
But I've added a lot to my poetry pages: photos, music videos, commentary and explanations, links to related poems.
I now consider this to be my magnum opus: the place to go, after I'm gone, for anyone who might wish to know who I was.
ACCIPIO RES UT SUNT (la vie sans rêves, la solitude, le désespoir).

L'homme solitaire doit marcher seul.🚶🏻
(Non mi conoscevi perché non volevi.)
L'amour est le seul rêve qui compte.💗

Additional Information

🧙🏻‍♂️ I believe I have finally finished my book! 📘 It is rather lengthy, quite unusual, and somewhat difficult to understand though. If you would like to read it, it is right here in my AuthorsDen website. See my article "The Collector" for an explanation of my "Non-Linear Book" concept. FIN 🦢 (I wish one person would read it all and try to make sense of it. All I really wanted was to be understood.)
