The Biological Sciences have always been my major interests. As a child, I studied all types of plant, animal, insect and arthropod life. The mystery of Metamorphosis amazed me. How could the ugly caterpillar emerge into the beautiful adult butterfly or moth? This transformation involves total physiological and anatomical changes in the life cycle of the insect called Complete Metamorphosis. The insect goes through 4 different life stages: egg-larva or caterpillar- pupa and the emerged winged adult. The caterpillar has none of the attributes nor anatomy of the adult insect. The new emerging adult butterfly or moth has a pair of compound eyes, six true legs, pair of antennae, four wings and multiple organs. Adults are air breathing arthropods with veined wings and have three distinct body regions: Head-Thorax and Abdomen. Adults have been changed in their chemical. physical and structural form from their caterpillar stage. They also exhibit different habits and food choices from their larval stage. Thus they have great diversity in their habitats and flight ability and some species even migrate such as the Monarch butterfly. This just amazed me and influenced my education and understanding of life. I began my own study and collection of many forms of life. Of particular interest were collecting and rearing all kinds of caterpillars. A moth and butterfly collection was started and still exists today which is basically a museum type collection. Other collections were also made of different species of dragonflies, beetles, and other types of specimens such as fossils, trilobites, minerals, major economic insect pests, seashells, whale carvings and whale watching photography etc. After graduating from 4 years of undergraduate courses, what followed was 6 years of graduate studies. While in undergraduate school I met and married my wife of now 59 years. WE have 3 daughters and 6 grand children. We have been blessed. Our children were raised in a Christian home. We lived on a farm in upstate NY. My wife and I also taught Sunday School at our local church. My professional career has involved a 50 year span involving college and university teaching, industrial research and product development, Extension Teaching, IPM and biological control. Upon reaching my first retirement in 2004, we moved to Bradenton, Florida. However, the love of teaching called, and another 5 years of teaching the biological sciences resumed at the State College of Florida. After my second retirement in 2017 we moved to Virginia. Spiritual growth has closely followed my teaching career. The college years were in reality my desert experiences.In the late 1970's, I became "Born Again"in 1984. During my tenure at the University of Connecticut and then teaching biology in Florida this walk of faith grew immensely. Spiritual growth was rekindled to a greater level. This resulted in turning back to my "first love"-JESUS. This compassion has progressed with ever-increasing faith to pray and reach the lost. Thus my reason for writing here is that I have finally learned that the most important thing in life is not whom we are but Whose we are. Am now focused on giving back to all who will listen by my writing and teaching about things of faith and the Lord. All done in the hopes of informing you. Using the wonders of nature such as the beauty of the butterflies to show creation, there is a God. My prayers to all who read this bio and both of my articles that they will be blessed. To realize that our Lord is returning very soon! Now is the time to repent and accept Jesus as Lord and Savior Please consider- hell is not fictional but a real place of eternal imprisonment and horror.
