I graduated from Chico Sr. High School, Chico, CA back when dirt was a new concept. I immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy W.A.V.E.S. where I trained as a Dental Chairside Assistant. Over the years I have taken classes and attended workshops in creative writing with an emphasis in poetry. I also edited the small press publication "RockFalls Review" for six years.My favorite teacher and mentor is Dr. Donovan Welch, Professor Emeritus in Creative Writing at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. I also am influenced by Past Nebraska State Poet William Kloefkorn, Ted Kooser, William Carlos Williams, Jean Keezer-Clayton and Ray Clark Dickson.

Have been a working writer, newsreporter and helping to support family by writing for more than 13 years. My poems have been published in a number of small press magazines. I've won awards for my poetry from Beta Sigma Phi International and the Kearney Friends of the Library Writers Conference. Recently I was recognized by the Trailblazer Resource Conservation and Development council for my work as a newsreporter. I have also been given an Earth Team Achievement Award from the Natural Resource Conservation Service for volunteer service.

I have self-published two books of my own poetry, "Prairie Fire Morning" and "Dark Coronet". I am currently working on a book of Lenten devotions, tentatively entitled "Seasons of Glass" and am about to embark on a photo-journalism effort showcasing abandoned farm houses and farmsteads in the Republican River Valley of Nebraska, the working title of which is "Grace Land".
