I'm a lawyer. But don't get the allergy meds out just yet. I've been writing contracts and legal briefs for years. I looked up one day and realized that, as writing goes, a 20 page asset purchase agreement is about as boring as it gets. I've always loved to read...I can get lost in a good book for days (Stephen King is one of my favorites, but let's face it, Duma Key and Under the Dome are not designed to be read in a day!). So anyway, like many lawyers I know, I began to think "I like to read good books. And I know I can write. I should write a book. Something fun." The problem is it isn't as easy as it seems like it would be. Anyone that has ever sat down at page 1, with only 300 or so to go, knows what I'm talking about. All of those unwritten pages are intimidating. What I learned is that writing is a process. It takes thought, time, writing, rewriting, editing, more rewriting, perspective adjustments, and even more rewriting. By the time I my first book was done, I felt like I had given birth.
