Memmott grew up in Southern Utah, received his B.A. in English from Brigham Young University and his M.F.A. in Creative Writing from the University of California at Irvine. Major influences include Joyce, Faulker, and Fitzgerald (probably in that order) among others. Taught literature and writing courses at the University of Cincinnati and the University of Connecticut for about 15 years. Now on the periphery of the motion picture industry in marketing. Roger Ladd Memmott is a prize-winning author whose short stories and poetry have appeared in dozens of literary magazines, including Sou'wester, Confrontation, and New Millennium Writings. An MFA graduate of the Fiction Writing Workshop at the University of California at Irvine, he taught Fiction Writing at the University of Cincinnati for several years, where he edited the award-winning Eureka Review - A Journal of Fiction, Poetry & Art. His novels SWEET SALLY ANN and THE GYPSY LOVER were recently published to excellent reviews, and his collection of stories, GARDENING WITHOUT GLOVES has been called "a fascinating piece of writing." He lives with his wife on the West Coast and has two grown children.
