Maybe one of the reasons The Binding Volume 1 begins in Ancient Egypt and ends in today’s New Orleans is because I have been a nomad traveler my entire life. I traveled to California from Arkansas for 21 years straight, many of those years on The Mother Road Route 66. As a migrant worker, I would travel from Arkansas to California (I am actually a California boy) and pick cherries, peaches, plums and other fruit. I would travel with my family on the harvest from California, to Oregon, Washington and Montana. That is when I fell in love with America and traveling. I saw many beautiful places and scenes of life directly from the Grapes of Wrath in the cherry orchards. But, I made more money picking cherries in the 60’s than anywhere I could possibly working in Arkansas. Picking fruit paid my way through college at Arkansas Tech University for many years. Prior to graduation from Tech in 71 with a degree in Journalism, I became a Certified Welder. I quickly decided this was not to be my profession (but I am still strong advocate of Trade Schools, learn a skill!) then went to Tech. It was at Tech in 69 my fraternity assigned the fraternal name Crazy to me. My friends to this day still call me Crazy, maybe for good reasons. I believe in living life for the day as it is not tomorrow, and I damn sure know it is not yesterday. On a special note I was invited as a guest author/speaker at Tech to discuss my first full length novel, The Binding Volume 1. It was cool to be invited back to my old school, I was never really for sure I actually graduated, being Crazy and all, but I guess I did! After graduation, I went into Sales and Marketing and spent almost 50 in that field in some capacity. I started my own software technology company in 1996 and ran my company for 20 years until the open road called for me again. It was on that road I decided after 50 years receiving my Journalism degree to write a novel. Walking the beaches in Florida The Binding Volume 1 was birthed and grew up over the coming months. I retired and my wife Mindy (who the character Mindy the Voodoo Queen is based upon) and I hit the open road in a motorhome. After 21 states and seven years we are still going strong, it’s that nomad blood thingy! By the way, Bastet the Magical Cat, is based upon my fellow nomad cat Juno! I always thought she was from another world!
