"If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything."-Mark Twain “One is not idle because one is absorbed. There is both visible and invisible labor. To contemplate is to toil, to think is to do. The crossed arms work, the clasped hands act. The eyes upturned to Heaven are an act of creation.” -Victor Hugo

    Visions of Another Letter

I feel like we’re on the edge of a vowel,
or the skew of a consonant, a revelation.
Of a reason of human obliqueness of being.
That’s why it’s hidden from the world’s light.
Imagine the new words and meanings
a new letter could give us! It would be like
a ‘second sight’, or a ‘third eye’
if it could exist, if … we wished it
into being.

The new letter might sound like an ‘iss’,
or an ‘err’, or a ‘flree’, a speckled nuance of all sounds,
combined into the divine sound
of a God sighing, as if It were dying, since
it would be a Godhead letter, which would guide
the others. I tried, once, to write the sounds of thunder,
still have my notes, and ponder and flounder
in my ineptitude to write thunder’s Voice.
Thunder uses few vowels when it speaks,
it splits infinities with its growls of absolute
power of vibrating sound. I want to be thunder.

I’ve tried to write the fluidity of water
into verse, it doesn’t work to my satisfaction,
which proves my lack is more than obtuseness, or,
does it? I worry about water and its forms and my self.
Water is a word of many actions, of too many
refractions to word-eclipse with my human mind.
Yet, I want to be water.

I’ve tried to write of the travels of wind, but, I couldn’t
fit its enormity into my head, which is much too shallow
to hallow the elemental principle wind supplies with its reign
of invincible dominance of atmospheric adage’s tolerance.
And, as I yearn to be me, I want to be wind.

I’ve tried to write of the authority of sun, wanted to show,
with my desert living, I know who has won its worship
upon this Earth-spaceship. Rah is a vocal commitment
to winners, Ra is a symbol of sinner-seen gods.
Who is wrong? I want to be sun, one day, I will be Sun.

I want to be the one who finds this new letter, that will
make the world better, which will define the divine
into a word that’s heard throughout the primordial
conception of language. I want to live in words.

Poetry Pages: A Collection of Voices From Around the World Volume II by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen
A people’s heart can be found in their poetic words. In history men and women have stood firmly upon their soapboxes and street corners, rallying the deepest beliefs of people to rise up and be heard. The poetrypages.com has offered that voice a new place to stand and be heard, to share with others our deepest secrets and whispered wants. Combined with their love for verse and their desire to shar...

Poetry Pages: A Collection of Voices From Around the World by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen
A Collection of Voices from Around the World is more than just a poetry compilation. It is a partnership of poets from around the globe brought together by an internet poetry forum. That forum, poetrypages.com, has been the home of many a fine poet since it was established in 1999. This collection sets itself apart from those published by other poetry forums in several ways. Perhaps most...

Aria: Left Luggage by Geoff Nelder
My friend Geoff Nelder has a new book out on the market. I am anxious to read it, and look forward to its delivery into my hands. What's more precious than memory?

Riding The Cyclone (WARNING: Graphic and explicit material)
This is my friend, Jenn, who has opened my eyes and changed my life. I encourage everyone to read her story.~~~~~ My name is Jennifer Sloan. I am a 24 year old single mother/survivor of rape, physical, psychological, emotional, sexual, and substance abuse. The writings on these pages are from my experiences in life. I will warn you now that they are not pleasant, nor are they blatantly graphic (with the exception of the True To Life series, in which I have attempted to put my memories down as accurately as I can).
