A novel about a family during World War II, set on the homefront in Springield, Mass., and in the South Pacific. The book focuses on four characters and how their lives were affected and changed during the war years.
I ended up hating the first three novels I wrote. Finally I fell in love with one and published it.

I'm a Montreal writer. For what are now countless years I've made my living almost entirely from words, from newspaper and magazine journalism to copywriting and translating. I've written fiction throughout most of those years, when I was sure no one was looking. he & She is the first novel t strong-armed myself into publishing.
My hair is now white so it is difficult to say which writers have had the most influence on me. Especially when I was young they changed with each new literary discovery. However, none of the following authors ever faded away and disappeared from my list, which includes among others:
Mario Vargas Llosa, Gabriel García Márquez, Anaïs Nin, Patrick O'Brian, Annie Proulx, Philip Roth, Henry Miller, Vladimir Nabokov.
