Born at the end of the Great Depression, Jansen Estrup remembers much of WWII as a personal matter. The confused, sometimes horrific excitement gave him a lifelong interest in conflicts of all kinds and prompted him to choose a military career. Interested in writing from a very young age, much of his military experience led him to opportunities as a technical writer. Even then he created short stories, poetry and experimental novels. Many of the stories were first hand experiences and led to  their compilation in his memoir, War Stories for My Grandchildren - a memoir in short stories which  was published in 2007. His current project is a five part epic dealing with the mythology surrounding doomsday and other wishful thinking about the 'end times.'  Starlight On Stone, books WEST, EAST, SOUTH and NORTH are available now. CRUX, the final chapter, was released in March as a paperback and May 2014 as an ebook. Estrup has lived in a remote star powered home amidst the wildness of the Sierra Nevada for the past 4 decades with his wife of 52 years, Carole, an artist and writer.

Sanity (somewhere between Tao and Confucius) and happiness rank high as my greatest achievements. I'm not talking about that 'positive, positive, positive' delusion that has wrecked the USA, but rather a well grounded, critical analysis of the life and people I have gathered around me. Is there an award for that? Probably not, yet there is surely a prize, here and now.
