I am a single mother of two grown children. I have been writing poetry for over 40 years, and I am always learning something new. I write in a variety of different styles, but am obsessed with rhyme. I enjoy writing, and I find it almost as necessary as breathing. I have published 5 books of poetry.

Information
The two people who most influenced me in my life were my paternal grandmother, who taught me that inner silence is strength, and my friend Sandra, a fellow writer who encouraged me to paint in my "writer's block" periods.
Accomplishments
My first published poem appeared in Spear Magazine when I was 9 years old. My work has been published in Sad Dances in a Field of White, various issues of Tower Poetry Magazine, Simcoe Review, Dico, Bantu and Poetry Canada. My first chapbook, Friends, was self-published in 1981. My book, I Write, was published by Terebi Publications in 1988. Two chapbooks, Penned From The Heart (1995), and Victory Won (1996), were published by a church in Toronto. My book, Under Construction, was published in 2005 under my own publishing name, MariahBooks, Tattered Daisies was published by PublishAmerica in 2005.
