Gene Jones (g.m.jones), raised in southeastern North Carolina and graduated in 1968 from Lumberton High School. A draftee, he entered the United States Army in 1969. After being discharged in 1973, he enlisted back into the Army, in 1975. He retired from the Army in 1992. His military career took him to Vietnam, Germany, Panama, and various stateside assignments.
