I've lived in the southwest for over thirty years. I was unfamiliar with Native American life before I moved to Arizona. I took some courses, got interested in the mix of cultures. I am a romantic and began to see the possibilities in my writing of white and Native American protaganists.The inbuilt contradictions become conflicts in themselves alongside other dramatic pushes and pulls.
