The Mighty Naconi

Poem Artwork

I am the chief of a mighty people.
A brave people I lead daily, praying
for wisdom and guidance from the
great spirit above.
I must find buffalo for the people of
my village today, so that our children
can live and grow to be great warriors
several moons from this day.
I must then take my people on a great
journey to our winter camp, finding them
a peaceful place away from the dreaded
pale face, with all his diseases and wars.
I will pray to the great spirit to lead our band
of people to a place on mother earth
yet undefiled by the pale face, where
we will be able to hear the lonely cry
of the wolf, see the flight of the great eagle.
Until the great spirit shows us which path is the true path we will continue to be the Naconi,
the brave Comanche, I Chief Nacona
will lead my people as a mighty bear,
live as the lone wolf, invisible and cunning.
As the brave and majestic eagle I will
survive, because I am nerm.

I love Native American history. They are so brave and they were unspoiled by materialism and they loved mother earth!

Through the Amazon by S. Oliver Eldridge

The drug called "The Shari" has been used for vision quests over many years. But, when all the rivers start drying up, the tribe must send a young hunter named Tomás on a much more important trip through the Amazon.
