I wrote this the day my grandfather died. August 1, 2002. My soul was crushed that day. But he lives on....

God knew what he was doing When he made you my granddaddy.He knew I would need strong shoulders to help carry me.A strong male heart to love me.Kindness and generosity to undue cruel words and acts that was my life.Dependability to come and help me anytime I needed YOU.A gentle hand in discipline, words of wisdom and love to guide me.To have YOU to call granddaddy is the greatest of gifts from God.When in truth and deeds YOU did the things a father was meant to do.I live to be a good wife and mother, a good person in whole because of YOU and grandmothers love, encouragement and guidance. Your love filled face will be forever in my heart. You and your love will live on through me and my children, your grace and your goodness and teachings of family, beloved granddaddy won't depart with me, they will stay behind as witness to your existance.
