Loneliness can be challenging on all levels.... It can feel isolating, a kind of poverty of self, but also a place (I've learned) that can hold both pain and potential at the same time. Solitude however can be empowering and restorative, and can offer insight into personal growth and reflection. The thing about loneliness is we never outgrow it. It's part of the universal human condition. Everyone experiences it throughout their lives. No one escapes it. Perhaps we would do well to reframe loneliness not as a deficit, but as a transformative state, a teacher rather than something negative, where we can embrace it as a space for growth, creativity, spiritual alignment, and perhaps even a catalyst for purpose. You have portrayed this emotion very well. Making me believe that you really, truly are alone…and lonely.

But it seems that songs, actually poems, like those of Roy Orbison…Only the Lonely and Crying. Are deeply emotional ways conveying loneliness.

Wrong

As your poem articulates with passion's exclamation as well as its quiet way of keeping the thought alive, the sum total in the last stanza is an answer that though it might take time to find, is truly part of the answer to loneliness. I couldn't help but think of a streaming program, "After Life," written and acted by Ricky Gervais, in a moving comedy/drama that truly hits home with the pain of loneliness. On Netflix.
