Sighing in the stillness of twilight,

               shadows fall into my soul.

Your image fades with Summer's breath...

                as I drift away into night.

Hoping for some endless dream,

                to quell relentless longing.

But, only hunger remains,

                with feelings of insufferable shame.

I was innocent of this desire,

                 so much stronger than our will.

While the sun blazed in hot skies,

                 blackness lurked behind swollen stars.
