I haven't had much time to write poetry because I've been busy working on an article. I thought some of the newer members might like to see this one. It was one of the older members favorites.
Vagabond
I journey this life—a vagabond without home For to claim such an attachment denies my soul's need to roam
I journey this life—an orphan neither mother nor father I claim For to claim such bonds deters me from my soul’s aim
I journey this life—alone with no lover of my own For joining to another would choke the seeds of enlightenment my soul has sown
I journey this life spiritually naked—lest my finery cause me to falter And I am forced to lay myself again on this life’s lessons’ altar
And when this life’s journey is over—this naked, unloved, orphan vagabond Will rest in the fields of Elysium and review the lessons learned from beyond.

Poetry at it's best and delivered in a gentle breeze.
So very true. Life is a series of lessons that we can either learn from or ignore and keep repeating the same mistakes over and over. Your way is much better.

I commend your courage in choosing to walk this path - or do the real poets have much choice? This is the sacrifice of living in marriage to the Muse, expressed beautifully. I suppose we must all feel orphaned in a sense when we hear that call from the beyond and know that our true home must lie there, not here.
those on a spiritual journey by their very nature will never find a home but will reside in the "lessons learned from beyond" ... i do have an affinity with conceptual fabric of this inspired poem ...
