Poem Artwork

The wind knows humanity's secrets
songs from near and across the seas
melodies carried within the arms
of a turbulent season’s breeze

It knows man's obsessions
passions that possess and thrill
psalms of today and long ago
quests of evil determinate will

It understands life's language
be it words of love or broken dreams
freedom's ideals that have been suppressed
humanity's loud ... and silent screams

These echoes ultimately do return
bearing witness to love and sin
The wind knows all the secrets
buried within the hearts of men

This is gorgeous! Love the skill/talent you have displayed in your word choices and overall composition. Further, your wisdom emanates from this poem into the heart of the reader.

All the secrets buried within the hearts of men. I do so love this and know many do keep secrets and never let them out. Sometimes it is a man going out on his wife and destroying a marriage. Sad times for the family then. Broken dreams for the wife, who is usually the last to find out. Don't deserve even forgiveness.

Gwen, this is so elegant and eloquent. And I am very inspired by your thought that the wind, does, in fact, know all things. Sounds a bit Biblical - like the Holy Spirit! This is a truism for me as I regularly "talk to the wind" and know that it does "hear" and "take my breath away".. yeah, mad as a hatter, I know!! I think it's because it seems to "dwell inside of you". Thank you for this. Kate

In the spiral stairway of this afternoon(In India) your poem is the wind that sculpts its form...BRILLIANT poem, Gwen!

I love that thought, that the wind knows all secrets... Great piece, Gwen! And the artwork! I could lose myself in the 'wind' streaming up from the dune, faced in hidden secrets. :)
