Upon reading more of Mayakovsky.

Poem Artwork

The Russian Bed Bug

I just was going to write

a few words

when suddenly the desire

left me.

It was replaced

by my need

to snuggle

in bed and read more of

Mayakovsky.

I have not felt this Russian

in so long

that just reading him

in my native tongue

made it twist

like inside a woman.

It brought forth

long forgotten memories.

I can't wait to read Klop!

Now here's a word!

Klop!

It really describes what it is.

Klop!

Klop!

I can feel it tiptoe

between the sheet

and my skin.

Thoughts of Kafka

invade my alpha state.

Ouch! Oyve! Oy!

I feel its bite

jump out of bed

and scream in Russian

at the top of my lungs,

Oy Oy KLOP!

~~~
I can only guess what the word means. But I get the impression from the poem that you're talking about the real bite of the real bug currently invading Americans hotels already invaded by Indian owners.
I too, like the line, “like inside a woman,” like every man should know.
William,
Thank you for your read & time to let me know.
Sage,
Nothing like being exposed to 'alien' poetry. It's such a shock sometimes to discover we're not alone on this Earth! Chuckle... However, save your Vodka for our cheering on, money already spent is Vodka under the bridge! I support your feelings wholeheartedly but the opposing sob opinions still must be expressed...lol Thanks for your astute qualifier of my line.
Robert,
Thanks for letting me know of your interests. I recommend also the movie by the same name.
Brilliant and funny stuff Alex. Although I'm only familiar with a very thin bunch of Russian writers, I find myself interested just by your mention. You do it so well you know. Incidentally the only Russian author I'm familiar with here is Kafka. Of course everyone should have at least a passing familiarity with Kafka. Bob
Four words. A Cloud in Trousers, Mayakovsky's 1915 poem, and I too could read the Russian Bed Bug drunk on his subjects of love, revolution, religion and art, but I am boycotting Russian Vodka these days in honor of Equality of the Olympics.
"that just reading him
in my native tongue
made it twist
like inside a woman."
This above penetrating line, Alex, is perhaps how Mayakovsky felt about the laundress in his 1918/21 satirical play Mystery-Bouffe.
Exquisite poetry, Alex...looking forward to your next.
