There it rests in the reeds
Along a quiet marsh
Darkened wood with rusted sutures
Weather worn and harsh
One lone oar lays aside
A crabtrap tossed and broken
The quiet breaks for a small sloop
Shiney, new and oaken
Between the two the memory
Lies in the older boat
For painted flakes that dot the sides
For the memories still afloat
Some memories won't just go away!It stays with you to the very last breath.Nice write!Enjoyed it.

superb metaphor, Susan ... youth looks forward to voyages ahead, unaware of the dangers and the potential of sinking, ... age encompasses the memory of experiences and widsom to keep it afloat ...
An excellent write Susan

Ah there is somthing about the water, boats and or ships that stir the heart of the romantic soul. The water speaks of far away longing sand the ships and boats of either escape from love gone wrong or a race to love to come. The sea is like a liquid cupid just waiting to stir the waves of love.
Well done Susan my siren of the sea.
The Harvest of Souls Crossover is a story that is exciting, vigorous, and full of suspense about the fight of good and evil in two realms, the light and dark world. The Howdy Family is determined to defeat the world of darkness, led by the seemingly
Pierre.

I like both Fee and Eileen's take on this wistful composition..
Nostalgia is to the fore, but there is also a glimmer of hope that Destiny will surely bloom again in the most mysterious way..
Love the symbolic graphic..
