The spirit of the South is something that should be shared with everyone. If you haven't experienced a Dixie moment then you need to try.
Bennie wafered sugar
Sweet as molasses
Click of pure crystal
In Mason jar glasses
Honeydew cheeks so sweet
With Southern smiles abundant
An evening in Dixie
Never gets redundant
With Jasmine in the air
Spanish Moss dripping down
The darkness is a welcome
When Southern shades come down.
This is pretty hot!!
Feeding on those 'Southern Delicacies"
I need one of those cool Gulf breezes
That come from down under the Keys
To bring me back to reality.

I've experienced the Spirit of the South many times, and I've always enjoyed it. And I think we should all try to experience the wondrous diversity of this country, North, South, East, and West.
Mmmmmmm, mmmmmmmmm! You've made me hungry!! Such a relaxed life, the Southerners lead: no hurry hurry worry worry. :) Beautiful reminder.

I'll pass on the molassas...one time, my ex's MIL, who was from Memphis, made a country breakfast: all the works. Got some pancakes, LOADED it up with maple syrup...I thought. Nope. Sorghum (spelling?) molassas!!!!!!!!!! Ewwwwwwwwwww Needless to say...LOL
one of these days, i must give it a shot ... hopefully soon ...

Most savory depiction here, Susan. Once, I made the mistake of refering to my hometown of Austin as part of the South, to someone who lived in Georgia. My friend was offended at the notion, and gave me a stern education on what was and wasn't the South, lol!
..... Now that's easy for a Savannah native to tell, but, Honeychild, don't give away all our secrets of what's good! Cool and shivering nights in the Southern mountains ain't nothing to sneeze with, either. A split log fire over in te corner keeps thing warmer and warming! And, apple pies from local trees whet an all night appetite, too! Y'all remember, now! - Bill
Your wonderful poetry paintings always leave me for a longing to jump in my old truck with just my guitar and a knapsack and keep heading south until I heard your yell of welcome. Very nice indeed my dear Susan.

Sometimes I hear a transplanted yankee talking bout how they have never experienced real southern hospitality, and don't believe it exists. I usually say maybe if YOU would give up that yankee attitude, you might just see what I mean. Either that or get your sarcastic ass back home and shovel snow all winter.
