I posted a poem titled I'm still learning - Simple Poetry. It seems that I ruffled some feathers, so this was posted a few days later as an explanation, or maybe as an apology if my poem was offensive or in any way taken as a put down. That was not the intent.

RUFFLED FEATHERS

Recently I posted a poem
about the style in which I write.
I think it ruffled some feathers,
I probably should have figured it might.

It was never my intention
to put High Brow writing down.
I simply tried to point out
there are simpler works around.

We all have different tastes,
reflected in the movies that we pick.
Some like comedy or suspense,
while others like horror flicks.

There are dozens of music genres,
I prefer country, or rock-N-roll.
Sometimes, I’ll listen to the blues
and I occasionally get into soul.

We aren’t all alike,
there are no human cookie cutters.
Life would be so boring,
if we all thought like one another.

My poem was only intended
to point out I know the difference.
I know my stuff is simple,
that was my only inference.

I’m not a political person,
my opinion is seldom volunteered.
I’m considered to be very thin skinned
and a crushed ego I’ve always feared.

I can't stop my brain from thinking,
but I don't have to write it down.
That’s just my way of coping,
it makes me smile instead of frown.

I apologize for any hurt feelings,
but it probably won’t affect my style.
I just write whatever I’m feeling,
then post one every once in a while.

But, as was so brilliantly pointed out,
there is no need for rage.
If you don’t like what you are reading,
you can always turn the page.

And, if that sounds sarcastic,
that is certainly not my intention.
My words should provoke thought,
but I don’t aim to cause dissention.

Sometimes criticism will help someone if they are willing to listen to "Simple" logic. I enjoy your work, I enjoy the high brow work of some but I do want it to make sense!!

Naw, you were trying to make yourself out to be one of the "humble, but proud" poets, man. Just write your poems. It isn't necessary to find fault with others. It wasn't offensive so much as it was whinny.
