A month ago I fled from Mogadishu to Hargeisa, Somali-land, in fear of being caught in the cross-fire as Ethiopian supported government of Somalia clashed with insurgents. It was raining heavily
A blanket of dark clouds
Have enveloped the sky
A sudden light flashed out
Making the semi-dark day
A broad and bright daylight
The ensuing sound was horrible
upon hearing of the sound
My daughter made a scurry
It was a horrifying scamper
She though it was a rocket
Landing in our vicinity
Or a bomb going off near us
"Ethiopians" she said
As she rushed towards me
"The rocket has landed"
She continued as she screamed
Maria is only four years old
But at this tender age
She had witnessed horror
Though evacuated to Hargeisa
The memory of Ethiopian tanks
Are still fresh in her mind
