Poem Artwork

life, a precious stone smoothed by sadness
weathers away in the deluge of my tears.
me, a once beautiful gem
with perfect cut, color and clarity--
now marred by defeat.

is not a marriage founded by respect,
turned desire?
is it not something warm and beautiful?
is it not a lifelong end to searching through
a card catalog of dreams?

laughter, comforts me in its routine.
binds me one more time.
while emptiness twice astounds
memories of longing. there is a moat around duty
surgically sealed by the oath of love,
on a marble slab, beneath broken glass.

I demand to be loved
I demand it

my will, it weathers away
as I die again today
muffled by silence
drowning in the current
of not there.

I love this-it takes common things and makes them so unique with your wording, particularly the card catalog line. Thank god for poems like this.

So very sad, indeed, Sara. Marriage should be a grand and loving union, or it's not much of a union at all, it's more like a prison sentence.

Well written, but so very sad. I love the lines:
I demand to be loved;
I demand it
Something so many of us are saying, but who is listening?

If I didn't know how much this hurt, I would be applauding your work.
I love you, as much as any married man who has his balls in a locked security box can.

This is very good. Wonderful poetic question in S2. I love S3 and final stanza. Enjoyed.

Greetings Poet Sara Michaeli-Coslett.

This is a very powerful write, Poet!!! Life IS very precious, and with constant love, affection and tender care from a loving partner, it can be the most awesome and rewarding feeling on Earth!!! One must always be prepared to go the extra mile to ensure it doesn’t wither away. For love not given freely is not worth having. Peace thru Love.
