another Buk joint because I can

A dear friend of mine was recently torn a new one by one of the harsher critiquing boards. I keep tellin' her to stay outta those places! This one's for her.

another Buk joint because I can

they get pissed
at me
these poets
who admire my work
and then
beat themselves up
because I wrote
the piece in 10
minutes
while they agonize
for a month
over line breaks

tell me your secret
they demand
as if it's buried treasure
or the key
to a Young Thang's
crotch

here is my secret:
I write
when
I have something
to say

if there's nothing
to say
I shut up.

good advice, no? or
would you rather
I write
like those windbags
those twits
who produce
for other
windbag twits
and sweat alliteration
choke on meter
twist their brains
into a knot
for cleverness
dry wit
and 69 words to rhyme
with fellate
so that the revered
pale, pinched-nose
poets can have
a thing
to critique, rip to shreds
while frantically searching
for their own
69 words
30 of which
will be in Latin

I have no tolerance
now
for windbags
and twits
or the vanilla boredom
they bring

I've become a snob
but am told
I'm delightful
and charming
still
so I press on
writing

when I have something
to say

Art is an extension of the soul
Some souls whisper, some roar
I applaud and respect any efforts made
Even if I find them tepid

But I would never critize anothers presentation.....it would be like saying...gee lady...u got one fucking ugly baby! lol

but I can think it!!!

lol....ahhhhhhh you got me smiling!!!
This is great!!!
Thanks!!!

Poetry is personal. What is great to one, may annoy another. We can correct spelling and/or grammar for the sake of refinement but thoughts, style is 'each artist/poet' for themself. No one has had your experience, your life but you! Fabulously put! Sandy

rules are made to be broken, and poetry is where breaking the rules is part of the charm. To each his own, metered, footted, or free, that is the freedom of a poet's art.

I thoroughly agree with you Pat. When I write and it is good, it pours out. I do use rhyme and meter, but I wasn't taught it.
It flows naturally. Those that have little to say here at AD ... say it in a thousand pedantic ways and never make an impression.
They are fairies that fly around with words that lack meaning and go nowhere except back to their very educated minds. Your words are powerful and influence your readers. Don't ever change the way you produce your poetry. And screw the critics who pretend to be lions and knights with strong credentials. The ones they bring to the table are usually written on toilet paper. God love you! I do! Bill

excellent:) in my opinion if theres rules its not art; thoughts cant be contained in the brain, they have to be let out on paper or some other medium, so how could they therefore be contained in something as small and base as metre and rhyme? i wish i had more words to say in support of your freind but i think youve said it best anyway

P.Gomes, excellent words to live by. I always like to say what comes from the heart. I feel if I make mistakes then they are mine to make. I write first and foremost, " pour moi "

Amen! Thank you for saying what is on my mind. You've still got it, and obviously what you have to say (when you do have something to say) is worth listening to. Great Job.
