The shining sun seems dull today

Since you drew your last breath and went away

The image of you has left our eyes

And God had gained our grandest prize

On one day some time from now

Together again someway, somehow

From time to time you helped us all

And that is something none too small

You taught us all a lesson well

The stories of childhood you would tell

How your eyes would shine when you did speak

It was your laughter we all did seek

But, until then it’s here we will stay

Unto almighty God, we all will pray

You gave to us, all the love you had

Our hearts are crying and full of sad

Our lives go on without you here

Forever remaining oh so dear

Nevermore on earth to see your face

Only from our eyes have you left this place

At first, we will cry when we think of you

Our hearts full of sad and our minds are blue

But, then we will recall the good-times and smile

Knowing our separation is but for a while

Together we will be on that golden shore

Living with God forevermore

But for now we must depart

Together again, in our memories and hearts.
