It began innocently though


She sat on my lap
And then I undressed her lips
With my tongue
And experienced a change of heart.

She drew a picture from her kisses
Then smiled sweetly
And moaned in my ear,
“You’ll be rewarded,”
And strolled down from my lap.

I took her words to heart
And sensed something happening,
My excitement grew
I began to enjoy
The adventures ahead.

She toasted me
With those precious
Cups of her life
Sobbing in delight
As a little child
And lit up a cigar.
“To the good life,” she sighed.

“To the good life,”
I replied

Our lips clinked,
“You’ve made it,” she smiled.

A huge lump
grew in my throat
But I knew it wasn’t a poem
It was the cough of love.

It was the cough of love.
