Chinese antiques are so beautiful!!! I have inherited my grandmother's bakelite big vase and a set of dishes for 12 people. I came from a large family. I know if I didn't preserve these two things that were so precious in my grandmother's days, no one else would care to preserve them. I placed the bakelite vase next to the altar where I had placed my parents' picture and my grandmother's picture there, so my grandmother would still own it.
I remember this big vase. On every Chinese New Year day a huge flower/plant, which seemed to have been cut down from a tree, was put into the vase for good luck, mainly targeted at my uncle, who seemed not able to find a wife. But my uncle didn't care. He was bad! Every time he went on a blind date he would sit there to read the newspapers, did not even care to talk to the girl. The girl would go home feeling all mad. Hahaha!!! He finally went to Brazil and found a German wife who was old enough to be his mother. My uncle was a funny guy!!!
