Ireland in sunshine, Ireland in rain
The soft Irish weather, I’m home again
In the Kerry lanes.
A good shower clearing the air,
great for the spuds, swelling their veins
Sunshine boys of Spain singing ole
I'm dancing with the fuchsias
down the Kerry lanes.
The Soft Irish Weather
We're no’ made for the sun in Ireland, we're used to
clouds and rain, rain and clouds, the soft Irish weather,
not the sunshine boys of Spain proudly singing ole.
Eight weeks of constant rain, eight centuries of invasions,
we like strong drink and sad tales, a good ban on sunshine,
that's what we need some day!
A good shower clears the air, and it's great for the spuds,
increasing their number and swelling their starchy veins,
so, let's dance with the fuchsias in the Kerry lanes.
