They treated me like a long-lost son
on his way to the clouds and the sun
Istanbul, here we come! Smiles and mealtimes
bestowed on the hungry one.
Pity it's just a transit stop,
Fly again sometime to the city
on the Bhosporous.
Here's a lesson I should never forget -
The harder you work, the luckier you get.
Though the people are fighting
hard economic times, the leaders never seem
to get it right.
I could stop there in Istanbul and find a wife
A Turkish Airlines cabin crew girl
who'll lay on me the chicken couscous
and the red, red wine, the fork and knife.
Service is the higher calling,
It's not a belief, but an understanding;
Undoubtedly, our great mission and brief, friends!
It'll take us way up to the stars, and the city of God
Down here, we're all hostages to Time.
Constaninople became Istanbul, in this world
Change is inevitable and there's so many cars.
