Handkerchiefs hanging from drawers like leaves
Wardrobe choc a bloc with trousers
jackets and shoe trees
I should have a ritual burning
of all belongings
Who'll get this old fool up the hill? It's many a long mile
Who wants my things? The children have their own pile
I'm a hoarder, my kitchen pantry is stuffed with jams,
preserves and condiments
My mind full of writers, singers
and poets - Chinese mountain landscapes
Tibet's Mount Everest, Shandong's Taishan
How can I get to the top of the mountain
without a car, Sherpa or ski-lift?
It requires effort to stand like a naked flame, a candle.
This book represents a thirty-day period of my poetry journal. Each poem addresses
the dominant thoughts occupying my mind during the early morning hours of a given
day.
