Time for the Birds

Do you have time to listen to the wise old owl?
Wearing his horn-rimmed glasses,
hooting his deep, wise call.

Do you have time to listen to the clever fox?
Put some sandwiches by the old holm oak;
Being chased isn't fun, you know, not at all.

I have time to listen to the singing birds,
Sparrows, starlings, red-breasted robin,
listening like Fontaine or Olivier Messiaen.

Time to listen to the wise old owl,
gentle smile and tortoiseshell glasses,
learning that sweet wisdom, oh so profound.
