PATIO DE LOS LEONES
In the Alhambra of Granada, a pride of stone lions
in the courtyard that captivate the eye.
Golden sunlight on their tawny manes,
sunshine is playing at Patio de los Leones.
My world is full of color, a realm of art
intimate as any interior by Pierre Bonnard.
I paint for France at the Court of the Lions,
and sleep is impossible, do you know why?
The pride of Aragon and León,
Spanish lions charging into my life
That pride of stone, Patio de los Leones,
the courtyard of the golden lions.
