Friendship is like a gold ring,
Much like the argyle socks upon our feet.
The warm memories held within
Are treasured in the casket of our minds.
Like the murals of Dunhuang,
Friendship never fades.
It is never truly lost or stolen, unless
Snatched away quietly by the hand of time—
Only to be forgotten, or—as we raise a glass
Of fine white wine together—
Amidst a friendly embrace or a kiss,
To find its way back to us once more.
Such is the way of friendship,
Like that gold ring.
The Stolen Ring
For friendship is a golden ring
That we wear like Argyle socks.
The warm memories inside,
Treasures in our memory box.
Never lost or stolen, unless
Lifted by the hand of Time
To be forgotten, or returned
With a friendly hug or kiss
Over a glass of good red wine.
