LA CANTADORA

It was believed so long ago
Humanity was blessed
For deep within a sleeping soul
Were gifts, unknown possessed

The storyteller's gentle eyes
Saw beneath the layers
Deciding on a tale to tell
She was a truth surveyor

Tales revived, revamped, survived
Before the written word
She felt the heart, she felt the mind
Imagination stirred

The storyteller chose the myth
To wake the sleeping soul
Her story was a special gift
Waiting to be told

To wake the inner essence
Were stories shared to find
As wisdom spoke with presence
To learn.....above.....the mind

Wake up

Gently

In some South American story telling traditions, it is said that humans are possessed of a gift of hearing that goes beyond the ordinary.  This is the soul's way of paying attention and learning.  The story makers, or cantadoras of old, spun mythical tales of mystery, in order to wake up the sleeping soul, wanting it to prick up it's ears and tune in to the wisdom contained in the story telling

Anita

Has beautiful undertones of the great Toltec wisdom and storytelling..

The storyteller has the capacity and ability, to be able to impregnate the listener's mind and soul with deep intuitive and spiritual inlays..

Your versatility as a writer is literally astounding, and you convey your message in a simple and direct way to your fans and readers..

The graphic is very original and eye catching...

You rock sister...

Reminds me of the troubadors of old, but the Cantadora (in Italian it translates as Golden Singer) seems to be more than just a mere singing storyteller.

You are a story teller too.
In the South and southwest of the US, you can still find story tellers. There's one at a famous restaurant that we go to who comes to sit at the table and tell you a story. I rememeber when I was little, I used to go to the library to hear a story-teller and I've always remembered the time spent there. Also, each family usually has a person who remembers the family stories, and passes them along to the next generation. It wasn't until my mother died, and I began to disperse her household that I realized that I was the keeper of information for the family. I could tell where each object came from, who it was to go to and why and the myths and legends that went along with the knowledge.

Thank you for this wonderful reminder that storytelling is a great service to all generations.

I really enjoyed this-I was just thinking today how we are all storytellers and do it everyday when not even realizing it, and this is a wonderful write you have here.

Here we call them Folk Tales and, sadly today...the tales are dwindling as tradition, as we know it...isn't respected as it once was. There's a great sadness in losing traditions in life. I know that you read to other's...teachings to others. It takes one soul to recignize that familiar spirit in another. Thank you.
Love,
Susan

You woke me up with this one, Queenie.

A marvelous poetic tale. I love ancient myths and legends, and this is a good one.
