A bit of fragrance always clings to the hand that gives roses. ~Chinese Proverb~ All By The Cup She Gave A nomad wandered into town, Weary from his trip Cloaked in dust by foreign grounds His sandals worn and ripped Posture bent with chin cast down No eyes did his gaze meet Down silent streets no friends were found Just echos of retreat A sip of water for his thirst To quench his burning need Upon his soul, a bastard curse That chocked him like the weed Stranger in this land of dust Verdant was his home Bearings lost in sandy gusts Eons did he roam Shadowed figure by the well Bucket filled to brim Magic moment, desert spell Her cup she gave to him Drank his full and choked on breath Until he could no more Here by each sip, he cheated death And left it by her door In gratitude he took her hand And placed in it five stones Each gem the tale of different lands That spoke in tongues their own He stayed with her for many nights As they slept under stars He took her to his passioned heights Her love his sweetest bars He felt renewed, he was reborn All by the love she gave For her, he was, the light of dawn To last beyond their graves Lady A 12/01/03
