THE OLD BOOKSTORE

aurelielise-anne:

The old bookstore.

Why don’t we have these anymore?

Books covering ceiling to floor.

Happiness between the binding.

What a perfect and safe finding.

Read in the candlelight.

Nothing can be as right.

Pictures and words before my eyes.

Reading about truth and some lies.

You’ll definitely find me hiding.

The tall shelves of books I’ll be minding.

How cozy a place to "go away" with a good book. I can smell the books!

Love ya!

A treasure trove of words on pages waiting to be picked up, taken out and put to use.

The same is true of libraries. I recall spending hours not finding anything to help my research, but finding all kinds of interesting titles that wanted to lure me off into reading adventures that had nothing to do with what I was focusing on.

As a child, I read avidly. You remind me of that time. Now, it's like Android and computer. Time has moved on. Not sure if it is for the best. Thank you for igniting my thought process, Susanne. Love and best wishes,

amazon, online shopping, less people reading, smart phones,
corporate takeover, high rentals, small shops
can't compete anymore with the big malls and supermarkets,
many reasons for the loss of the charming
old resful bookstores and other 'quaint' things.

No greater pleasure then to delve in a good book with luminous photos of things and creepy crawlies. Loved your poem and the photo. If you find such a library I will join you in it. Great poetry Susanne, have a great day. xo

There's nothing like holding a book in your hands, and reading what's been written. Reading what's on computer can not compare, and for those who don't read books, They are missing out on a great pleasure.

We still have them down down here in south Louisiana. I love going there and just browse round, but I always windup buying a book or two.

There is nothing like a bookstore. I cannot pass on without entering to see what I could find, and I "always" find something. The poem expresses my sentiments exactly. There is an old "used books" bookstore I always go to in Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand (I will be going there next week). It always harbors unbelieveable book finds.
